EZTV Desktop (Alpha)

yeah still working on it, but not as much as previously as i'm back to my
day-time occupation now.

i'll be bringing out another update in the coming weeks with some of the
aforementioned comments seen to.

what operating system are you running? the prior problems with the .net
framework should've been resolved with the newer version.

when you say that the installation crashes, what exactly happens? do you get an
error message?

i'd suggest to make sure you have the latest version of the .net framework
installed and go from there. if you have a later version than 2.0, try
installing 2.0 (1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 work together so you don't have to uninstall
anything.)

let me know if you resolved the problem, and how you did so.

to start off im running vista home. i just got it installed. unfortunalty im
not 100% sure what i did to get it. i went to control panel to make sure i had
all the .net framework versions that you mentioned. the only one that i saw
was version 1.1, so i google the other two and downloaded 2.0 from microsoft
and i goto install. it said it was already installed. so i was hmmm, ok. then
i try 3.0 and i get the first error message.


i looked in control panel. i have no idea what its talking about.

like i said before, unfortunaly i can't help you out here cus im not sure what
i did (if anything).

also not sure what this is about but i updated the shows in settings. when i
click on tv news, nothing shows and the same with latest torrents. so i
clicked refresh and the second error message comes up.




*edit- i just reinstalled and now its working. although i was able to
duplicate that error more than 5 times before reinstall, i can't now. ill let
you know if it happens again if i notice what might be causing it.

this did not work for me at all, sadly as it sounded like something i would
really use. it installed ok. when i first tried to run it i got this error. and
the the program will not run.

this is probably due to the fact that when certain parts of the eztv site are
down, the application will not work properly.

at the moment, the tv news section is not working, and instead of tv news, an
error message is displayed.

because the eztv desktop application \"expects\" news to be there, this causes an
error. this is something that will be fixed in the near future, and is of high
priority.

out of curiosity, what version of windows are you running and what version of
the .net framework do you have installed?

tv news should be working again...

with the recent domain issues, people who are using eztv desktop will notice
that there is some errors when trying to run the application. this is a known
issue and a new version is in the pipeline. thank you for your patience in this
early (usually bug-filled) testing stage.

probably because eztvefnet.org is unavailable. editing your hosts file may (or
may not) fix this problem until either the domain is repointed or the app is
fixed.

update (nov 12th 07):
new version available. fixed major bug after domain confusion. dropped tv news
for the time being -- was causing more issues. going to focus more on torrent
downloading and automation. very busy atm. sorry for inconvenience.

although i like the style, i agree with vi76, a ctu style would be nice.
and i also am thinking what about the various formats for shows such as heroes?

seems you are right about the domain name causing the problem. the new version
fixed it. now the app loads fine for me.
