The Funny Man Show Reviews Criticism Thread

well, we wouldn't want the other thread to get closed now would we 😉

apologies for the flaming but where else were we supposed to do it? anyway,
i'll set this up now so we can flame to our hearts content.

i have never heard of him before his thread popped up. and so far, i don't
think much of his reviews.

however......
aydin did suggest he start the damn thread, so i trust that he knew what he was
doing when he suggested it.
the reviews are his point of view, after all, and everyone is entitled to
that. but if anyone is silly enough to accept his word as gospel, well, more
fool them.

personally, i'm just going to sit back and watch how it unfolds & let him do
his thing.

i think his own thread was started because he was spouting his (largely
unwanted) reviews/opinions in the episode threads themselves. i first came
across them in top gear, but i believe he has done it in many others.

i really want to know what nationality he is (care to shed any light on that
funny man?) maybe i could cut him some slack if he was like a 16 year old kid
who was actually trying to learn how to write reviews. but then, if he is,
he's not really trying too hard.

the reviews (see: opinions) themselves aren't exactly up to much, they're not
amusing enough to be a good read, not informative enough to judge a show by,
and seeming not very well scored either (i wouldn't have given californication
2/10, deserves at least a 6-7 in my book).

good, amusing, unique, innovative, none of these words i'd use to describe
fm's tv show reviews, but i would use those descriptions for:

and i see you must have watched the condemned. watched that with my hubby.
not a bad movie as such, but the premise behind it was just sooo wrong. got
into a huge debate about it after we watched it. needless to say, hubby loved
it, and i just found the idea mortifying!!

it was pretty disturbing

that qi review was the one that assured me he was a complete and total idiot.
it would be okay if he were making an effort to improve his work, but he keeps
churning out the same biased uninformed crap time and time again.

and yes, qi is awesome. every time i watch it i learn some new absolutely
pointless but quite interesting bit of trivia, like the fact that i shouldn't
have flushed my new goldfish down the toilet when i was 12 - he was just
constipated ☹️

i sincerely apologize for the aggravation this bump has caused you, aydin. and
i assure you: this is a singular slip, on my part. i am (almost) as
disappointed as you that, after a bit less than a week of quiet, someone didn't
think this particular irritation was drifting away fast enough.

the counter-thread may get bumped. it doesn't matter. i will not post to it,
nor refer to it; here nor anywhere else on this site. (in fact, i now
purposefully log off before viewing any new post to that thread, as i don't
even wish to increment that meter.)

for nine days, from apr 03 08:20 to apr 12 14:29, only one person has posted on
that thread. my impression was that this was some unspoken consensus of the
site regulars, and i followed that instinct. as much as i wanted to rail
against the announcement of a review of a show whose last episode release was a
christmas special, i held my tongue. and i was quietly proud of everyone else
on this site, who did the same.

i say: let it starve to death. close the door, and ignore the noise. if it
manages to attract some newbies with its stench, fine. they may feed it for a
couple of days, but they'll tire of its vapidity and move on.

it dropped off page one in about five days. it would have dropped to page
three, by itself, within two weeks. with only itself to keep itself alive,
that thread will surely be dormant by your independence day, if not mine.

let's let that be so. and let's let no one be impatient for it.
