well i didn't respond to the frisky dingo review not because of any great consensus but because i've never seen the show and didn't know anything about it. as for the funnyman thread being stickied if its not out of bounds can i ask why this was done? also when it might be unstickied? having it set as a sticky means people who might otherwise ignore it may assume its important and read it and start off a new round of arguments and annoyance. |

ah thank you for the explanation, though stickying the funnyman thread does seem like 'cruel and unusual' punishment for the rest of us... |

drat, dmf! you responded before i had a chance to finish composing my politically sterilized micro-opus. thank you, though. blackstar seems appreciative of the "quick, direct" answer. (would be it that i had not so constrained myself.) that said, i'm posting this because it took a lot of work: blackstar: "...thread being stickied... ...can i ask why this was done?" threads occasionally get stickied for temporary, administrative reasons. the first time it happened was when a coke bottle fell out of the sky. blackstar: "...a sticky means people who might otherwise ignore it may assume it's important and read it..." you've been around the forum for awhile - please tell me you've actually witnessed the phenomenon of which you speak. somehow, bold, sticky, top-of-all-the-lists means: "ignore me." the sticky area wears a cloak of invisibility - particularly to those who neeeeeeeeeeeed the latest (whatever their favorite show is) episode. then, sticky: please use this thread for show requests and inquiries. doesn't even appear on their screens! i'd not worry - anything up there is safely hidden. (folks'll scroll... & scroll... & scroll... and never find it.) blackstar: "...frisky dingo... ...i've never seen the show..." quite coincidentally, i recently started watching frisky dingo - from s01e01. i can't say why. i was just inspired "from out of the brown," as it were. somehow (and i have an ironic feeling about this), i had gotten the impression that the show might be interesting. i'm now up to s01e08 and not enjoying it as much as i'd hoped. this is surprising, as i'd heard such bad things about it. blackstar: "...frisky dingo... ...didn't know anything about it..." frisky dingo is a juxtaposition of the comic book hero/villian myth and modern corporate culture myth. it is a situational conflict in which an evil antagonist wants to destroy the earth, but feels constrained to do so within, say, osha guidelines. it's an hilarious premise - and it's got its giggles - but i'm still waiting for that episode; when the writers "get it." if you enjoyed the toying with "reality" the writers of the austin powers films presented dr. evil, you might enjoy frisky dingo. blackstar: "...when...might (something) be unstickied?" this is never known. temporary stickies just get set adrift. that's all there is to say. to announce a timetable... well, ok... i'll agree with my president on this one thing, in this one instance. |

i prefer to think of dmfausts reply as concise spareaker. mechanics of setting a thread to 'sticky' i was more wondering why in this case. thinking about the effect again though you are probably right, making it a sticky will decrease the chance of it being read, so a good thing in that case. oh and i visited the frisky dingo site and watch the promo, very, very strange but potentially in a good way. |

stickied... i have a sense of impending doom as though the very fabric of spacetime is tearing apart at the injustice. ignore me while i go and mourn what can only amount to the end of all that is good and decent in the world. |
