hi, just my 2 cents. i also am a very big fan of stargate, and the spin off atlantis. i cant get enough of it either. i download the episodes when available then watch them and delete them. i have bought as they have been available everything i can here in aus and so far my collection is as complete as it can be. i have the 10 stargate box sets and the 3 atlantis box sets and now have bought the new stargate movie. cost a lot but worth it to have the entire set so far with all the extras. thought about downloading the lot but just ended up buying one set a week. cheers hc |

if you like sci-fi, stargate is the best sci-fi tv show ever. as oobaka pointed out, you have the chance to already have at you disposal hundreds of hours of this sweet medicine that is stargate franchise. start by watching the original movie stargate http://www.imdb.com/title/ ![]() tt0111282/ then stargate sg1 s1 to s8 (until atlantis comes into play), then you can start by altering episodes with atlantis. i personally don't like bsg, i find it incredibly boring. the main stargate idea is so clever, it can be spin indefinitely. it mixes sci-fi and reality in believable way. there are some bizarre episodes, but generally, it's simply like a drug addiction. this is my first post here, i am just so exited the show is back. i really miss sg1. |

it might be hard to believe, but about a year ago, when my sci-fi adventure started, i watched all the stargate sg-1 episodes in less than 2 weeks. thats about 160 hours of quality entertainment and let me tell you, it was the best 2 weeks of my life. i tried watching it all over again, but it just wasn't the same, so if you're watching it for the first time really cherish the moment. watch the years going by, technology being developed and abandoned, entire races rising and falling, earth earning its place among the stars... watching all the stargate episodes all at once is like the best vacation ever. just don't try to do it on a crt. thats what the dude from the final scene of "total recall" did before his eyeballs exploded. and yeah, its a good idea to watch seasons 9th and 10th together with atlantis. the ori story arch can really piss you off. sg-1 is the ultimate show. you can't call yourself tau'ri if you haven't watched it. i only hope the next generation of nerds will have a show even remotely comparable to praise. |

i would help to watch stargate atlatis from season one, ep1 and maybe sg-1 from season eight or earlier. but if you like battlestar galactica's good episodes then you should love atlantis.....as its a lot more sci-fi than bsg's coronation street in space...and remember bsg has not finnished it has the second half of season 4 to show next year, yes another 10 or so episodes to drag out telling us who the final cylon is.....adama, rosalyn or guyas baltar....or? |

i think that it is very difficult to watch battlestar (which i think is one of the best of all time) and then go back to watching atlantis. atlantis, especially this episode is pretty poor compared to bsg. i'm sorry, i loved the stargate sg1 series, but atlantis has gone done the tubes fast with cheesy character dialogue, poor acting, poor content and very very predictable and repetitious story lines and scenarios. this episode, for me, was sickening. especially the ending, which we have seen before. but that's just me. i have watched all the episodes of all of them though. definitely watch sg1 though and that will make you want to watch atlantis (which atlantis does start off well). |

i never liked the new bsg either. i'm a bsg purist and found the new one to be dark, boring and the idea of starbuck as a girl idiotic. and i'm a chick, so it's not a sexist thing. it just wound up being a show i didn't want to watch. stargate sg-1, on the other hand, was kind of groundbreaking show in that it tied it's sci-fi into today's world with today's air force. it made it seem very possible that space travel isn't that far away and in doing that gave legitimacy to a lot of the scientific/physics possibilities that people would turn up their noses at. richard dean anderson brought the show more of a "loose" feel to it. when ben browder and claudia black came in, it was more serious and i feel took the show up a notch. unfortunately, people couldn't get over rda not being there. as the ratings went down, they decided to stop it after season 10 and switch to made for tv movies. atlantis has had several changes and i'm still with it, but i love the idea of atlantis and another galaxy. if you've downloaded this please remember to watch it on-air. atlantis is on the bubble. if we can't show our neilsen prowess, this may be the last season. be sure to leave your tv set for it's time slot. watch it and dvr it, even if you're not home! |

since you haven't seen sg-1 perhaps you haven't seen farscape either. if you haven't, get it! the stars of farscape are the stars from the later seasons of sg-1. it was a brilliant series as well. |

i disagree with some comments i think that stargate atlantis holds up well and is easily as good as sg-1. another sci-fi series you should see that is equally as great is babylon 5. |
