i was very disappointed. i didn't know it had been so dissed on the net. i was expecting flash gordon. other than using the names of the original characters there are no other similarities. the first episode was poorly written and not credible. the characters lack empathy and lack of good acting only exacerbates this. at least the original ming was supposed to be an alien. i get it that there were unacceptable racial overtones the first time around. this ming is ridiculous just an average white guy, what can white guys say, who lacks any exotic qualities and doesn't even exude the the power or sinister qualities of the original ming. remember he was the merciless. this ming basically to qualify has girls 'drugged' so he can bed them....and his lack of prowess makes him a joke in the harem. say what you want about the original ming he was a bad guy but not pathetic. i have no idea why they would pay to use the flash gordon name it doesn't resonate with children like superman, batman, spidey et al. and the level of story telling doesn't really seem to render it watchable to any other demographic. very cartoony but in the worst way. |

i like most post's here think this was awfull,plot ,acting,.... terrible. why do they have to sanitise everything ?, like emperor ming, just a normal bloke now!. mind you the pilot for "painkiller jane" was great, but the eps are crap, maybe the reverse will happen with this! who knows. does make me laugh though, they pull "firefly" after 14 eps,which was great, and keep churning out rubbish ,probably money going under the table!. |

i agree that the show sucked... but what was that promo show commercial, that came up for about 5 seconds? (it had that classic song playing.) that show looked kinda cool. |

oh come on, i cant be the only one that liked it... however i do like sci-fi stuff (although never heard of flash before, never got into bsg or stargate (just never watched them much) in regard to the file. as expected better video/audio quality. they did undercrop on the bottom by a few pixels on accident but i could care less. |

holy crap. thanks for all the reviews, you guys saved me from something truly horrid it seems. "flash gordon" caught my attention and i might have downloaded it if i had seen the file before the forum post. and this is scifi channel doing it? what idiots. i hope they tank and another network snaps up their shows. maybe then we can get dresden/farscape/etc/etc back. |

it is sooooo true. this show stinks so bad i could actually see wavy lines coming off my monitor while i was watching it. i only got about 20 minutes in but was so annoyed by the simplicity of the plot and the idiotic dialogue that i could not subject myself to any more. bork3, i completely agree, the dresden files may have been a lightweight program and all but at least it was enjoyable and this piece of crap effectively stole it's funding!!! i usually don't want any program to fail as i know how many people's time, hope and energy goes into them but sci fi channel, you really made a big mistake... |

it was shown to a room full of 200 people in the uk who all when asked what they thought booed it!! later on people could be heard describing it as a disaster. all i can say is episode 2 had better be good and that'll teach ole eric (flash) for saying its the best comic book series since smallville! what a tool! |

this show is so bad my wife and i were sqweming in our seats. it just wasn't even remotely interesting. i'm a fan of flash gordon but this just had no spirit. i don't care if it's reinvented to sell but come on the lead character is terrible, the story was lame and terribly boring. there just doesn't seem to be any substance to it. oh and flash got his name by his quick running, but apparently his a 3 times marathon runner, who gets this, has only won in his home town. his not even a professional. i don't think it's worth looking at. |

i think that the eztv crowd has spoken.... i was really looking forward to this... it had some good press and filmed in vancouver (usually good sci-fi stuff) but flash gordon is a stinker... dont compare this show to smallville for the simple fact that smallville was good enough to be picked up for 5 / 6 seasons... this new flash gordon is pathetic... poor plot, sloppy writing, bad acting... as i was watching it i thought about those few episodes of star trek: voyager where they re-created the serial shorts from the 1930s in black and white, including flash gordon... those episodes were far better then this crap, at least more creative.... |

yes, it's crap. the story is boring, the design and look of the show is cheap (what kind of an outfit are the soldiers wearing? looks like an old shitty "riot gear" outfit pieced together as opposed to designed). i think they time traveled to the year 1990 to do the fx work on a video toaster. just brutal. you can find better fx work on youtube by high school students (that's not a slam against high school students, they should hire some for the show to bring up the production value). so, if you want to watch a show about space adventures, what's on tv now that matches that? firefly canceled, farscape canceled, battlestar on its last season, hell, not even star trek. maybe they'll remake buck rogers, minus the "space vampires" episode (thewellers.com/twiki/vorvon3.jpg). |
